FAQs

How many sessions will i need?

There’s no clear answer to this question as it depends on each individual and their goals for sessions. Some people find a few is enough whilst others benefit from longer term support (around 20 sessions or so). If you would like to work within a set amount of sessions, we can tailor your goals and create a personalised treatment plan to help give you the best chance of reaching those goals within the timeframe. I would say around 12 sessions is needed as an average.

What is a clinical psychologist?

It's surprising that the title of psychologist is not protected, meaning anyone without any training to claim to be one. On the other hand, Clinical Psychologists are under the regulation of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This means you can verify their credentials by checking if they are registered. Clinical Psychologists specialise in mental health and receive training in various talking therapies. Psychiatrists, who are medically trained, can prescribe medications to address conditions like anxiety and depression. They fall under the oversight of the General Medical Council. Counsellors and psychotherapists provide support to adults and children at a less intensive level, assisting them in making their own connections. These professionals may not always be regulated, so it’s important to ask about their specific training. In the UK, clinical psychologists must be registered with the HCPC.
